Coverage of marijuana legislation in the United States is often heavy on politics and heavy on crime. There are many stories that are written about laws being passed or police arresting people for simple marijuana possession. While these are certainly disturbing events, the larger trend is often not mentioned. That is marijuana arrests and the criminal justice system overall are at an all time high, despite the recent drop in arrests for recreational use.
Many state-regulated cannabis companies have been drastically affected by recent marijuana news, especially as of late, Marijuana Moment, a national cannabis community organization, has temporarily shut down all its stores as of June 1st, 2021, following several of their local retail outlets were robbed, and local/municipal-operated clinics, including Magnolia Wellness in Oakland which was robbed... Also, according to Marijuana Moment, in January, 2021, raids were conducted in five states across the country targeting... pot! raiding doctors and pharmacies' offices and shutting down pot shops and other related establishments. Some reports have the police and the National Guard participating in these raids.
Marijuana News Online recently reported that "the cultivation, manufacture, and distribution of marijuana is illegal in most parts of the U.S." กัญชา is viewed as a gateway drug by many young adults and teens, and recreational users and cultivators face sentences of prison time. The U.S. House and Senate have discussed amending the Controlled Substances Act to include more severe penalties for those who sell or distribute marijuana. However, the federal government, which is enforcing the cannabis ban under the 21st Amendment, has yet to announce any change. In addition, marijuana is still illegal in many places outside the U.S., including Canada, and the sale and cultivation of cannabis is also illegal in several European countries.
In an effort to assist the cannabis industry, several companies are starting to manufacture devices that can help people "vape" cannabis. These vaporizers use a heat source to produce a marijuana-infused vapor that is inhaled without burning the lungs. These devices can be worn like electronic cigarettes, and they can even be used to "smoke" water or air as well! There are also several different variations on this theme for use in different applications.
Currently, there are two medical cannabis startups in the state of California. One is Alba Botanica, which is developing an oral spray that can be taken by oral means and delivered to the lungs. The other company is Arcadia Systems, which is researching the use of a liquid, capsule form that is taken into the stomach like a vitamin pill. Both companies are in the testing stage, but they are both exciting prospects for the California medical cannabis industry.
In Colorado, one company has launched a website called Legally cannabis. The site offers consumers information about the marijuana laws in the state, and the benefits of legal adult use marijuana. Users can also sign up to receive regular emails about marijuana business news, and they can learn how to buy weed online. If you live in a Colorado town or city, or if you're planning on opening a pot shop, it's worth keeping an eye on local news outlets to see what sorts of licenses your competitors are getting. That's one more way that consumers can keep up with what's going on in their home towns. When you get a license, you can sell retail and cultivate your own weed.
