When I was growing up, the only places I would go to eat were the local diner, fast food chains, and the occasional hamburger. When I was a kid, I knew nothing about the world outside of my local diner. As I grew older and my kids grew up, my eating habits changed. In the last few years, I have become a more conscious consumer of my food.
I have tried a lot of food these days and while I have had great success in finding great restaurants and great food, I am also noticing that my palate is more sensitive to taste. Now that I am more aware of my palate, I have become a bit more selective in my search for restaurants and food. I have come to realize that there is not much difference between fast food and fine dining restaurants. I have also realized that there is not much difference between the fine dining restaurants and the chain restaurants.
In the last few years, I have started to really take an interest in local restaurants. I used to be a bit leery about local restaurants. I would see that my favorite restaurants always seemed to be the ones that were located in the middle of nowhere or had a reputation for poor service. Now, that I am more interested in local restaurants, I am more open to the idea of a good meal out at a local restaurant. Here are a few of my favorites:
Restaurant and Tourist - Mymikke is one of my favorite restaurants and is located on Mymikke Beach. This restaurant is not only great for its food, but for its location. The restaurant is right on the beach and there are no other restaurants within a two-block distance. You can walk to the restaurant from your house and you won't have to get dressed up and make a trip to the mall or the beach to do it. This is great for me because I don't have to worry about parking my car and dealing with other people. It also helps me feel a bit more connected to the community.
Restaurant and Tourist - Mymikke has a very unique concept and that is the "Mystery Meat" that they serve. Their "Mystery Meat" is a marinated and roasted beef piece that is served with a side of mashed potatoes. I really enjoy their Mystery Meat. This Mystery Meat really makes the experience special. It really brings out the flavors of the beef and it is so tender that the potatoes are able to fall right off of the beef.
Restaurant and Tourist - Mymikke has also had some great success as a restaurant for people who love their Italian and Chinese food. Their recipes are made from the freshest ingredients and are known for their fresh vegetables and seafood. My favorite is their seafood appetizers and entrees.
